Measuring flow is as important as measuring pressure. Flow refers to the volume of water moving through the pipe over a specific time, measured in Gallons Per Minute (GPM). While a flow meter can be purchased and used with your system, it is not necessary.
To measure your flow, follow these steps:
Bring a 5-gallon bucket to the water source.
Place the bucket under the faucet and turn on the water (avoid frost-free faucets).
Record the time it takes to fill the bucket.
If you can fill the bucket in under 45 seconds, you have the recommended flow rate.
